Rimantas Rolia's Biography
Rimantas Rolia was born in Ignalina, Lithuania in 1970. He graduated from Kaunas Higher School of Art, Vilnius Academy of Arts (MA). He studied at the Salzburg Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Austria.
Rimantas has illustrated and designed numerous books published by Lithuanian and foreign publishing houses such as “Šviesa”, Kaunas, “Hutchinson”, London, “Alfred A. Knopf”, New York. He has participated in many competitions and exhibitions: Best Lithuanian Illustrations “Illustrarium”, Bologna, 2011, Illustrations Biennale “Ilustrarte‘09”, Lisboa, 2010, Illustrations Exhibition “Figures Futur”, Paris, 1996. Rimantas received the Kyoto International Cartoonist Congress Prize in Kyoto International Cartoon Exhibition in New York, 2000. Special Jury Prizes in Kyoto International Cartoon Exhibitions in 2002 and 2004. His latest picture book “Mauliukas” won the Award of the Academy of Arts in Vilnius Book Fair in 2009. Rimantas's works have been exhibited in the Kyoto Municipal Art Museum, at „Itabashi” Art Museum, Tokyo, in Hohensalzburg Castle, Salzburg, in Public Gallery of the United Nations, New York.
He works as an illustrator, a graphic designer, cartoonist and poster artist.
