Walther Moreira Santos's Biography
Walther Moreira Santos is a well know Brazilian writer and illustrator. Both as a writer and as an illustrator, he is an artist of unexpected resources and he proved to be a very active one: over the last twelve years he wrote more than 21 books (novels, theatre plays, children books) and he has illustrated around 30 titles (children books, poetry, etc). His work has been published by several publishers such as Geração Editorial, MXM, Nova Prova, Cone Sul, Autêntica, Editora Lê, Melhoramentos, Artes e Ofícios, Paulinas, etc who sold over 200.000 copies of his titles.
During his career, Walther has been awarded with many prizes in Brazil and abroad, namely: National Prize Bahia’s Cultural Foundation (2000); 1st Prize Mário Quintana’s Cultural House (2003); Xerox Brazil (2000); Paraná Prize (2002); Cultural Itaú Prize (2003); Funchal City Prize (Portugal); Newton Sampaio Prize, etc.
